Do you struggle to say no to purchases you know you shouldn’t be making? If that’s you, you’re not alone. Many of us struggle to know when to say yes or no to purchases. And according to USA Today, the average American spends roughly $18,000 a year on non-essential items. That’s a huge chunk of change!
So how do you get empowered to say no, so you can say yes to the things that matter? Check out this short video I recently shared on my Facebook page, and learn three strategies you can use to discover the power of saying no!
1. Just say no.
Say it with me: NO. Sure, it’s a little cheesy. But Amazon and Facebook Marketplace can make it easy to make lots of purchases that empty your wallet. Practice saying no to hard purchases, so you can be prepared in moments when it’s hard.
2. Have financial goals.
It’s important to have clearly defined goals written down – whether it’s paying off debt, buying a home, or paying for your kids’ college education. While these goals might be far off, these goals can help empower you in the moment to say no, so you can say yes later.
3. Say no now, say yes later.
I remember many years ago when I first started Strong Tower Consulting, and my family was on a tight budget. We had to say no to lots of things – including fun appetizers at restaurants. But those small choices back then added up to lots of fun things that we can say yes to now!
Remember – saying no now can help you say yes later. If you need help with a plan to help you figure out you should be saying no to, Strong Tower Consulting can help you find financial freedom!
